Pain Management
Chronic pain can occur as a result of many conditions or syndromes or even just the normal aging process.
Pain management is a specialty of medicine that aims to reduce the impact of chronic pain on someone’s quality of life through reducing the pain experienced and improving functional limitations.
There are a multitude of pain management options that can be tailored to the individual and the pain they experience. Broadly speaking they are medication options, injections (interventions) including implanted techniques and physical options such as guided reconditioning. Pain specialists work with many other specialists to improve someone’s condition including but not limited to: physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, occupational therapists and psychologists.
