Our theatres are fitted with the most modern and comprehensive GE anaesthetic equipment,
delivering a well-equipped state of the art day surgery facility.
Reception
Each patient is given an individualised admission time which is approximately 30 minutes prior to their planned procedure time. There is a dedicated, trained receptionist to welcome day surgical patients who assists in completion of any outstanding paperwork and then usher the patient to the specialised admission area.
Admission area
The new Pittwater Day Surgery has been designed to offer the maximum patient privacy and comfort. Patients are admitted to the facility by the admitting nursing sister before being transferred to the pre-anaesthetic area.
Pre-anaesthetic area.
Each theatre has a dedicated pre-anaesthetic area in which the patients change into appropriate theatre attire and are interviewed by their anaesthetist.
Theatres
The 3 new operating theatres have been built to the NSW Department of Health Guidelines that provide maximum safety and privacy. All theatres are large and lit with natural light. The theatres are fitted with the most modern and comprehensive GE anaesthetic equipment and monitoring devices.

Theatres 1 and 2 are suitable for all specialties other than gastroenterology that is specially catered for in theatre 3, a specialised endoscopy theatre with the latest endoscopy equipment and the most modern scope processing equipment Ophthalmologists can enjoy the latest Zeiss microscope and the Alcon Centurion for cataract surgery. Pittwater Day Surgery is the only facility on the Northern Beaches to cater for vitreoretinal surgery.
Recovery
There are eight first stage recovery beds, fitted with ASNZS College of Anaesthetists compliant monitoring equipment. Immediately adjacent is stage 2 recovery with six recliner chairs, including a dedicated two chair paediatric area. All recovery chairs offer patient privacy and comfort prior to discharge.
