Dr Jerry Vongphanit is an experienced ophthalmic surgeon and is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO). He completed his medical qualifications at University of Sydney.  Dr Jerry Vongphanit completed his Master of Medicine at the University of Sydney where he conducted research in diseases of the retina as part of the Blue Mountains Eye study.  The results of these studies were published in large international ophthalmic journals. Currently, he is a expert reviewer of manuscripts submitted to these journals.Dr Jerry Vongphanit spent several years working in general medicine in public hospitals before embarking on his ophthalmic career.He completed his ophthalmic training at Sydney Eye Hospital where he trained through the different subspecialties throughout  metropolitan Sydney and regional New South Wales.

Dr Vongphanit performs the following surgery in our facility:

• Cataract extraction with a lens implant

• Glaucoma surgery (trabeculectomy)

• Sutureless pterygium surgery

• Eyelid surgery including blepharoplasties, ectropion, entropion and ptosis repair

• Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR – tear duct surgery)

• Eyelid skin cancer excision

• Chalazion incision and curettage

• Paediatric probe and syringing

• Other surgery suitable for day surgery

All procedures are performed under local anaesthesia with sedation, except DCR and paediatric cases which require General Anaesthesia. All patients are prescribed antibiotics and pain relief as required to use at home.
